Creating Safer, Supportive Schools For LGBTQ Youth

Presentation by Karla Fleshman, LCSW, MDiv followed by a moderated Youth Panel representing LGBTQ youth active in their local HS GSA.
This 90 minute program will involve didactic exercises, educational information, and a moderated youth forum in which questions are posed to the youth to allow them to share both their experiences and recommendations for creating safer, supportive schools with the following goals:
 To increase knowledge and encourage positive attitudes toward LGBTQ+ students in school settings.
 Provide evidence-based information with real lived experiences of LGBTQ students on what makes for safer, supportive schools.
The target audience for this event is school administration, teachers, school counselors, parents, and students from New Castle County.
