The content and styles are as diverse as the people of our great city.\nTop finishers in the grand slam will represent The Pigeon and Philadelphia at the National Poetry Slam!\nCome perform\, watch or judge.\nPoets wishing to compete should arrive at 8:30 to put their names in the hat. All poets who put their name in the hat pay half price. At 9:00 poets names will be picked out of the hat.\n1st round 10 poets2nd round 4 poets3rd round 2 poets\nThe Pigeon* is excited to announce that this month's feature and workshop** leader:\nRACHEL MCKIBBENS\nis a New York Foundation for the Arts poetry fellow and author of the critically acclaimed volumes of poetry\, Pink Elephant (2009) and Into the Dark & Emptying Field (2013.)\nShe is a nine-time National Poetry Slam team member\, has appeared on eight NPS final stages\, is the 2009 Women of the World Poetry Slam champion and the 2011 National Underground Poetry Slam individual champion.\nShe co-curates the reading series Poetry & Pie Night in upstate New York.\n*The Pigeon is an audacious bird that is everywhere.** The Pigeon Presents: The Nest.
