DESCRIPTION:19th Annual Newark Parade & Festival\nSunday\, July 14\, 2024 - 10:00AM to 8:00PM EST\nThe week culminates in our beloved parade and festival\, brimming with floats\, performers\, and vendors to conclude the celebrations on a high note.\nThe Mission of Newark Pride\, Inc. is to increase awareness of the LGBTQ+ community by providing education\, advocating for social justice\, increasing progressive public policy\, and developing opportunities for empowerment through fellowship.\nThe Newark Pride Festival was founded shortly after the tragic death of Sakia Gunn\, a teenager targeted and murdered because of her sexual orientation in downtown Newark. In response to the needs of the LGBTQ community\, safe spaces and programming were advocated for\, resulting in the establishment of Newark Pride Week in 2005. The festival has since expanded over the last 18 years\, adapting to the evolving landscape of Newark and attracting a significant number of attendees to the Downtown Business District.
