We’re honoring the 40th anniversary of the Rainbow Flag—the global symbol of LGBTQ pride, rights, and community. Created by Gilbert Baker and collaborators, the flag made its debut on June 25, 1978 at the San Francisco Gay and Lesbian Freedom Day Parade.

We’ll be celebrating this design classic in style with a welcome by Amber Hikes, remarks by design curator Michelle Millar Fisher, and a flag-unfurling ceremony serenaded by the Philadelphia Voices of Pride. Afterwards, get creative at our art-making stations and search the Museum on a queer art scavenger hunt with Qunify.
